Inferential Racism

In Star Wars, the powerful sith leader of the Galactic Empire is Darth Vader.  From a first the first look he already looks like a dark character because he is dressed in all black. The color black is known as a darker color due to the fact that it looks like a color of darkness and evil. I think that George Lucas knew that while creating the firstStar Wars movie in 1977. Not only the color of his suit but the light saber of the sith gives an inferential racist look. Red is not as happy as other colors such as blue and green. In total, Darth Vader does look like a “bad guy” due to the color scheme of his costume.

Paragraph 1: Darth Vader

Everybody knows that black cats are considered bad luck by most of the public. Black cats were first considered bad luck because they were in associations with witches. During the Salem witch hunt in America, it was told that witch turned themselves into black cats to ram the streets and stay safe of persecution. I do not think this is just a coincidence that the witches turned into black cats while America had a problem with race. Having African Americans as slaves that were thrown around and sold like an animal caused the reputation of something being black to have a negative connotation. Black cats were and still are stereotyped as bad luck because of an assumption to witches. This is just seems very ridiculous to me; was America really so racist that they couldn’t even leave animals alone?

The Simpsons is one of the longest running television shows in America. It is an adult cartoon because it talks about real issues in a vulgar way. One of the stores in the town of Springfield, the city were the television show takes place, is called Kwik-E-Mart. Kwik-E-Mart is a gas station in the town that is run by a poor, Indiana gentleman. This mans’s name is Apu. Apu is what you would think of a stereo typical Indian man. He has a thick Indiana accent, owns a gas station, works long hours, and has a magnitude of children. He is never to happy but he never has a huge smile on his face. The Simpsons did not care if it was racist because the more messed up their jokes are, the more appealing they become to a certain type of audience. If you ask me, The Simpsons hit the nail directly on the head with this character.
